It is difficult to believe that this marks the eight year anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attacks.\u00a0 It is a day to remember, to reflect and to be reminded of the importance of national security.<\/p>\n

\n

Our thoughts are with those who were killed and those who survived.\u00a0 And, with those who lost family and friends on that day.\u00a0 But also with everyone else, since this was a day whose events were traumatic for all of America.\u00a0 And, there are so many people whose places of work or residence were permanently impacted.\u00a0 Among those, pilots, flight attendants, air traffic controllers, airport screeners and first responders. People who worked at the Pentagon and in lower Manhattan.\u00a0 The residents of New York City, Washington DC, Arlington, VA and Shanksville, PA.<\/p>\n

\n

Memorials were held today in New York<\/a> (via the Christian Science Monitor),\u00a0Arlington<\/a> (via NPR News) and\u00a0Pennsylvania<\/a> (via USA Today). \u00a0Plenty of other communities have found ways to mark this day as well.<\/p>\n
