{"id":643,"date":"2009-09-07T21:47:20","date_gmt":"2009-09-08T02:47:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/planesafe.org\/?p=643"},"modified":"2016-01-02T16:13:21","modified_gmt":"2016-01-02T21:13:21","slug":"from-the-last-few-days-sept-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/planesafe.org\/?p=643","title":{"rendered":"From the Last Few Days: Sept 6"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A few things to catch up on. . .<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"A330\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2009\/TRAVEL\/09\/03\/us.air.safety\/\" target=\"_blank\">The FAA has announced a directive for U.S. airlines to replace pitot tubes in the Airbus 330 and 340 planes (via CNN)<\/a>, which impacts Delta and US Airways. \u00a0 <a title=\"Follows EU\" href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/rbssIndustryMaterialsUtilitiesNews\/idUSN0254911620090902\" target=\"_blank\">This follows similar action by the European safety officials, in response to very preliminary findings from the of Air France flight 447 crash investigation (via Reuters)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"JetBlue\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2009\/09\/04\/world\/americas\/04plane.html?hp\" target=\"_blank\">A JetBlue flight made an emergency landing last Thursday in the Bahamas. \u00a0The evacuation was successful and nobody was injured (via the New York Times).<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"FAA new rules\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nj.com\/news\/ledger\/jersey\/index.ssf?\/base\/news-14\/1252026309131400.xml&amp;coll=1\" target=\"_blank\">The FAA announced Friday that the new rules they have put forth following the Hudson River collision may have prevented that incident (via nj.com and The Star-Ledger).<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"AA MD-80\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/albuquerque\/othercities\/dallas\/stories\/2009\/08\/31\/daily59.html\" target=\"_blank\">American Airlines said Friday that they are responding to an FAA probe into use of some fasteners on MD-80 bulkheads and the allegation, in a Wall Street Journal article, that planes were retired to keep them from inspectors (via bizjournals.com and the Dallas Business Journal)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Tulsa\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ksbitv.com\/news\/57657917.html\" target=\"_blank\">Five people, four from the Lester family, died on Saturday when their Piper aircraft crashed in Tulsa (via KSBI-TV).<\/a> Our condolences.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A few things to catch up on. . .
