Saturday Afternoon Forum:  “Aviation Security” . . .

What is being done to make us safer--and what is missing?  The bricks and mortar are rebuilding the World Trade Center site, and physical repairs at the Pentagon are complete.  Commercial business in NYC has come back—but what about aviation?

Since 9/11 the airlines have received $15 billion, plus the government also pays for airport security--yet airlines are in bankruptcy, and the only security improvements to the planes are “hardened” cockpit doors.  Learn more about what others are doing to improve aviation safety and security with the lessons learned from 9/11, and how Independent Experts, successful criminal litigation, the media, and family member’s persistence have made a difference in the past.

UPDATED!  Confirmed Special Speakers and Guests Include:

  • Brian Alexander:  Learn which Aviation Security recommendations are in the 9/11 Commission Report, and what is missing, inaccurate, or half-steps toward the truth.  Alexander is with Kreindler & Kreindler LLP, and the report represents years of investigation.
  • Ron Motley:  Update on the lawsuit to bankrupt the terrorists: Burnett vs. Al Baraka.  Considerable progress has been made!  Ron Motley will share new evidence, and update on progress in the courts, including the upcoming Court Hearings October 12th and 14th, 2004.
  • Mary Schiavo:  Aviation Security—Past, Present and Future.  Former Inspector General, Dept. of Transportation
  • Jim Barry: CBS PhiladelphiaAn excellent CBS news team documented a year of Airport Security failures at the Philadelphia Airport.  The CBS investigative reporting brought positive changes and some managers were fired!
  • Bogdan Dzakovic:  FAA Whistleblower
  • Sibel Edmonds:  Former FBI Language Specialist
  • John Goglia: Former Board Member, National Transportation Safety Board, received the 2001 NADA/F Air Safety Award
  • Gunnar Kuepper:  Aviation security successes and failures prior to and after 9/11 from a global perspective.
  • Paul Knerr:  Chair of the first “Expert Panel,” an independent team used by NTSB to determine mechanical problems and fixes that were implemented following an aviation disaster.
  • Katherine Fernandez Rundle:  Miami-Dade County State Attorney who authorized the first and only known successful state criminal prosecution following an aviation disaster--of SabreTech, following the ValuJet crash.  Attorneys in the public and private sector have been most helpful in forcing higher standards of aviation safety and security.
  • TSA – Transportation Security Administration:  TSA is allowing more airports to convert back to private contractors—possibly the same companies that caused 9/11 and received corporate immunity from our government to cover-up their past failures.  We look forward to hearing from TSA experts from Boston Airport and the Washington DC office, and especially from the screener’s perspective!
  • Cindy King and Kevin Zanhle:  Update on outsourced aircraft maintenance from the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Assoc., and members of an airline Accident Investigation Team.

Sunday Morning . . .

Program focusing on coping, making progress, and healing our hearts and souls. . .

  • Edward “Ted” Rynearson MD:  30 years of clinical practice, worldwide research, and helping people with life‑changing events.  We welcome Ted Rynearson from his home base in the Seattle-area.
